Hornets Tread Lightly On Kemba Contract Talk

CHARLOTTE -- Hornets general manager Mitch Kupchak was not in the mood to discuss Kemba Walker's contract situation at a Monday morning news conference.

"It's our hope that Kemba ends his career in a Hornet uniform," Kupchak said. "That's the end of it (contract talks through press). I don't think Kemba wants to talk about it. I think he (Walker) wants to be with his teammates and be as little a distraction as possible."

Walker signed a four-year, $48 million contract extension in 2015 instead of holding out a summer longer to be in position for a bigger contract.

"If we play well and we're fun to watch, everything will take care of itself," said Kupchak. "That's the way this business works."
