Hunter Huss Plans To "Stick It To" Defending Champs

GASTONIA --The unbeaten Hunter Huss Huskies may have their work cut out for them when they host the defending 3A State Champions, Charlotte Catholic, tonight in the third round of the playoffs, but don't expect the team to come out sluggish, said coach Jamar McKoy.

"We've told the guys that they (Catholic) are a traditional powerhouse school, but other than that, we are just going to lineup and play Hunter Huss football," McKoy said. "We want to get out and attack Charlotte Catholic and prove that our offense is one of the best around."

Last week, Catholic scored five times against Monroe but suffocated the offense, securing its ifth shutout of the season.

Huss, who is averaging 37 points per game this season has six shutouts.

"Our defense has overshadowed the offense all year, and that's fine," McKoy said. "We are excited to play a big ball game tonight.

Tonight's game marks only the third time in Hunter Huss history that they've made it to the third round.

"This is the fourth quarter and the kids are ready to roll-and-roll," McKoy said.

The game can be heard, locally, on WGNC AM 1450/ 101 FM. It will also be streamed live on the Carolina Sports Link.

Jim Mojo Morrison has the call starting at 6:30 pm.
