"Killa Bee" Jenkins To Make Pro Debut On Saturday

CHARLOTTE – Several months ago, Taylor “Killa Bee” Jenkins posted a heartfelt message on her Facebook page thanking her supporters and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to fight professionally with Charlotte-based Vegas Grand Boxing Promotions.

In January, her first professional bout was cancelled when her opponent, Myasia “Butterfly” Oglesby failed to make weight.

This weekend, less than two months removed from the disappointment of having that fight cancelled, Jenkins will get a chance to showcase her unique skillset when she squares off with Oglesby during “Boxing Royalty” at the Extravaganza Event Center in Uptown Charlotte on Saturday night.

“I’ve trained harder than this girl (Oglesby), I’m better than her, and I am just going to let my actions speak for themselves,” Jenkins said. “I’ve worked so hard for this (fight), nobody is going to stand in my way.”

The path to professional boxing was paved with what Jenkins termed “the perfect storm.”

“2018 was huge for me,” Jenkins said. “I just want to thank everybody for their continued support, 2019 is going to be huge.”

“I’ve always believed in myself,” Jenkins said. “If you’re not doing something to succeed, then why are you doing it in the first place?”

Jenkins went undefeated as an amateur, leveraging her unique skillset that includes time spent as a kickboxer.

While boxing has been Jenkins’ focal point, her most important job is being a mother to her children.

“I want to show my children that you can do anything you set your mind to,” Jenkins said. “They (kids) are what drives me, they are what I live for.”

Jenkins said her training routine has been a tedious one. She frequently documents her training sessions via social media. In one post she can be seen throwing a heavy ball against a wall repeatedly using her cat-like quickness and agility.

“I love to spar, “Jenkins said. “I’m not scared to get hit.”
