CHARLOTTE--The Hornets are chasing a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference as they meet the Washington Wizards for the third time this season at Spectrum Center on Friday night.

7:10 P.M. - We're underway, Hornets win the tip...
 
1st QT - Nic Batum is off to his usual good start (2-2). Batum is a difficult player to try to figure out. His usual pattern of strong starts and weak finishes, drives Hornets' fans crazy. (w/7:50 left, 10-6 WIZ)
1st QT cont...Jeremy Lamb checks in with 7:15 remaining in the quarter and the Hornets down 13-9. Marvin Williams hit a 3-pt basket a few seconds later to draw Charlotte to within a basket, 13-12. Out of the timeout, Kemba hit two free-throws to give the Hornets a lead. (w.6:26 left, 14-13 CHA)
1st QT cont...The Hornets were dominant in the paint and on the glass, hence points in the paint (16), second-chance points (7). Marvin Williams scored eight points in the quarter, Bobby Portis scored nine to lead the Wiz. (32-22 WIZ)
 
2nd QT - After scoring 46 points in the last meeting, Bradley Beal didn't get his first basket until 8:06 in the quarter. Hornets' fans are seeing Dwayne Bacon for the first time in a while. Bacon last played February 14th vs Orlando. In fact, he hasn't played more than five minutes since November 24th. His season-high in points came against Indiana (11/21). Marvin Williams threw down a BIG DUNK with 4:13 left to play that brough this near-sellout crowd to its feet.(w/3:18 left, 48-45 WIZ) 
 
2nd QT - Bobby Portis has given Charlotte defenders fits, this season. He leads the Wizards with 11 points. Marvin Williams has 10 points in 14 minutes for the Hornets. Dwayne Bacon had an outstanding half with five points. His spin move around a defender resulted in a basket that brought the crowd to its feet. (52-51 WIZ) 
 
3rd QT - Marvin Williams has 12 points in the quarter as the Hornets lead Wizards. Charlotte opened the quarter on a 11-0 run, the result of crisp ball movement. The Hornets have 25 points off of the bench tonight, led by Jeremy Lamb's 12. Dwayne Bacon, has played very well tonight with seven points. His production has been hampered a bit with four personal fouls. The Hornets are playing the Wizards for the third time this season. They will play them for a fourth and final time on this upcoming road trip. (2:51 left, 77-76 CHA) 
 
3rd QT cont...Marvin Williams leads all scorers with 22 points  and Jeremy Lamb has 14 points off of the bench. Speaking of bench play, Washington's is keep them in the game. Troy Brown Jr. and Jabari Parker have scored nine off of the bench, Sam Dekker has seven points. (82-81 WAS) 
 
4th QT - It's a battle of the benches tonight as the Hornets and the Wizards battle down the strecth. As of the 7:22 mark, Washington had outscored Charlotte's reserves 39-38. Bradley has 15 points to lead Washington's starters. Marvin Williams has 25 points, to lead all scorers. (5:47 left, 101-100 CHA) 
 
4th QT cont...With a short jumper over his defender, Marvin Williams has 30 points (career-high 33). After Wednesday's loss, I asked him about the team's playoff chances. My colleagues in the press box are still giving me a hard time about that...LOL (2:16 left, 111-108)  
 
4th QT cont...Two big blocks by Jeremy Lamb and a three pointer with 51.5 seconds left have given Charlotte a lead with 50.9 sec left (11 sec left, 112-111 CHA) 
 
4th QT cont...Bradley Beal's potential game-winning shot was blocked by Dwayne Bacon (9th TEAM BLOCK) of the game. A short review of the play to see if a foul had occured before the whistle revealed that there was still time on the clock. The buzzer sounds, and the fans  explode! The Hornets get a much-needed win against the Wizards. (112-111 CHA)
