Gov. Henry McMaster will push for a bill that would exempt football players from a rule interfering with the state offering the Carolina Panthers tax credits and other incentives in exchange for the team moving its practice facility into the state’s suburbs. 

Tepper has reportedly wanted to build a new indoor practice facility since purchasing the team last summer.

 Although no deal was reached, state officials are optimistic that one will get done.

“The Carolina Panthers will truly be one team, two states, “South Carolina House Speaker Jay Lucas said.

The Panthers currently practice near Bank of America Stadium and have had to move practices indoors because of rain.

Officials said the new facility would bring 150 jobs to the state. No deal was finalized.
